Charles was born in San Francisco and raised in San Mateo County. He attended UC San Diego where he studied Political Science, Law & Society, and Psychology. He received his B.A. in 1997. After working in consumer leasing for several years, Charles entered law school at Santa Clara University School of Law. During law school, he was a law clerk with both the San Mateo and Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Offices. After graduating from Santa Clara and passing the bar, Charles began practicing law with the respected firm of Roger, Scott & Helmer, LLP. In 2011, he formed his own firm focusing on all phases of litigation, including pre-litigation counseling.
During his 11 year career, Charles has dealt with general liability, personal injury, catastrophic loss, business litigation, landlord/tenant, toxic exposure, property damage, construction defect, and professional liability cases. He has taken and defended over 100 depositions (including experts.) He has a proven track record of motion practice, having successfully brought multiple summary judgment motions. Charles has brought many cases to resolution through alternative dispute processes, but believes that vigorous representation sometimes requires drawing a line and proceeding to trial.
Away from the courtroom, Charles is a dedicated and involved member of his community, Belmont, where he lives with his wife and two daughters. He has served as a volunteer within the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District, as a director on the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District Education Foundation (School-Force!)
